 le mot de Garrett:

We are proposing the class will run Monday thru Friday with 2 hour workshops a day, all teaching and instructions will be in English.
The daily schedule will vary in the timing for classes in order to take full advantage of different quality of light in different times of the day, and also to be able to shoot different aspects of life and activities or action occurring in Versailles throughout the week, (i.e.) Market days Tuesday and Friday.
Monday - 1:00 to 3:00
Tuesday - 11:00 to 1:00
Wednesday  6:00 to 8:00
Thursday   1:00 to 3:00
Friday       11:00 to 1:00
The following is an outline of the different aspects of understanding and practicing with a hands on experience to be covered throughout the class. It is ideal if everyone has a camera with manual exposure/controls as well as aperture priority and shutter priority and program mode. But the class will be taught primarily around many of the overall concepts and creative directives in photography, so if an iPhone is the only camera one has to shoot with then that will be fine, but it may be limited in applying the following applications and creative hands on adjustments. I hope to gather a individual and group insight on what is important to them and what aspects of photography they are interested in and want to learn more about.

-Camera Controls: Auto, shutter speed, f-number, ISO compensation, zoom and so on. A very basic overview, to be followed up with more detail as it pertains to the following areas.

-Composition and Content: I will put the emphasis on capturing the mood and moment and telling the story -- not on rules. It is very important to understand the impact of composition and content and the visual  organization within the frame, story content, sense of time and movement, and (for people) facial expression. We will look at the quality of light in different weather and different times of day and how it affects the mood of the photo. I will also teach different techniques in commercial photography as a professional photography (i.e.) Portrait photography , Architectural photography.
-Quantity of light: A very basic outline of ISO, aperture and shutter speed, the gist of it being keep the shutter speed to a decent level and what to expect as you increase ISO. Evaluating exposure, including an introduction to the histogram. Depth of field priority will also be covered.
-Quality of light: Hard vs. soft light. Directionality. The basics of light color and white balance. Show lots of their example photos. Ask them to make and show their own examples.
-Editing and Post Processing: Encourage them to edit hard -- point out the best photographers throw away more pictures than they show. With digital there is no reason not to shoot enough to have choices. Basic computer controls. Adjusting brightness, contrast and color. Sharpening. Resizing and resampling for web use or prints. At least introduce the idea of archiving and backup files.
I am always available for any and all questions and welcome them no matter the time of day,  both in and out of the classroom workshop.

ABOUT ME:
I have been a Professional Photographer for 15 years. I have a Masters Degree in Fine Arts. In addition to my photography, I owned and operated a documentary film company in Washington D.C. where I directed and produced numerous documentary films for the past 20 years. I have been able to bring my artistic and filmmaking skills with the use of light, color ,design and composition into my photography to tell stories , capture important moments, from dynamic architectural photography to documenting events for memorable well balanced results. As a Photographer I believe  it is important to be at the right place at the right time. I have both strong formal skills and photojournalistic skills that allow me to create up close personal portraits for individuals, groups or families, and also in capturing the energy of a variety of  large  events or  corporate events, and important openings. I have shown my work in different Galleries in the U.S.
